Webster Technique
The Webster Technique is a safe, effective and specific method of evaluation, sacral analysis and diversified adjustment used by Doctors of Chiropractic. Sacral subluxation may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e., dystocia), caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby mal-presentation. Correction of sacral subluxation may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia.
The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation and/or sacroiliac joint dysfunction. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated creating a positive effect for both mother and baby.

Family Practice Research Journal reported:
Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction: After manipulative therapy, 91% of the women evaluated and adjusted had relief of pain and no longer exhibited signs of sacroiliac subluxation. Daly JM, Frame PS, Rapoza PA. Fam Prac Res J 1991;11(2):149-159
84% of women receiving spinal manipulative therapy reported relief of back pain during pregnancy. There was a significant reduction of back labor during delivery when Spinal Manipulative Therapy was used during pregnancy. Why Should I Get Chiropractic Care During My Pregnancy?
Many pregnant women seek chiropractic care for pregnancy-related musculoskeletal complaints like low back pain. The Webster Technique is used most often with pregnant patients because the technique addresses misalignments in the sacral/pelvic region in order to balance the mother’s pelvic structures. This balance may provide a more optimal environment for the baby with positive outcomes for a natural birth.
Chiropractic care in pregnancy is vital to the normal physiological function of both the mother and baby throughout pregnancy and birth. Tense muscles and ligaments can cause uterine nerve interference, pelvic misalignment and the tightening and torsion of pelvic muscles and ligaments preventing the baby from comfortably assuming the best position for birth. The Webster Technique addresses these concerns safely and comfortably lowering the risk of difficult birth for both baby and mom!
